Saw is just about ready to lock the PH web site for a while and begin the transfer to the new host. Please be aware that the site will probably be locked within 48 hours the next two years. The site will be unavailable to us until the transfer is complete. We're hoping this will take no more than a few days.

"Maya" used to be my dog untill I moved to UK back in 99. A friend of mine has been taking very good care of her ever since. I learned monday morning that she had been poisoned in a public park and died two days later.

Am cleaning up the upload script, thought I'd state the accepted file extentions.
Jpeg and png images create their own thumbnails. Other files are represented as such:

Only PUBLIC .jpeg / .jpg files (uploaded from Sunday to Saturday of each week) are reviewed and considered.
We all appreciate your PUBLIC uploads and your willingness to share with the rest of the PH community! :) Cheers!

The files preferences and captions have been restored with the backup. There is still an issue with the older file model (2003 format) it'll be sorted soon.

Good news! All the previous files have been restored. they are currently all set as "Private", I will synch the DB tables this week end and restore the previous captions and file settings.

Orel has uploaded a big lot of the previous files, and in the proccess denied us access to the thumbs directory... I opened a ticket to the support, and it should be back as soon as they clear it.
Edit: Access is restored, all I need now is to run the script to restore the older files in the database.

I have recalculated the users storage capacity for those of you who are using the PH a lot. Check your new file cap when you login next... if you feel you need more, PM me.

Regarding the backup of the data prior to Dec 2005:
The data is saved in a backup, as well as most of the files. The files are on this server, but for some reason we cannot access them right now.
It seems however that about 20% of the files were corrupted during transfer (0 byte in size).
So much for the good news today. I told myself 5 years ago that something like this would never happen to me again... meh.

I recovered the files I had deleted earlier, up to Jan 2006. As the database content was accidentaly emptied, I had to reset all the files preferences.
All the files are now:
Type: Private
Date: Today
Category: Other
The thumbnails for those files are being re-created right now.

You will notice some odd layouts in the pages. I'm editing the contents to fit the new layout, and am too lazy to get a copy working separately...
New layout should be out in two weeks, gone will be the tables, welcome to css2 & divs, yay!

Whether you've noticed or not, this weeks 'Picture of the Week' is by our very own Saw'sage. We have so far avoided selecting administrator uploads as the Picture of the Week but the uploads this week have been unusuable for a few reasons, notably being 'private'.
In any case, I'm sure you'll agree it's a good photo... though he could have included some girls sunbathing on those yachts! ;)

Some of you with accounts created prior to August 04 had trouble uploading files. (It said your account wasn't validated). This has now been fixed... sorry for the inconvenience!

Per Mr TBolt's request... you now have a picture of the week displayed on the index page. This picture must be set as public and be a Jpg or a Png to be selected as Pic of the week. It will be chosen by Mr TBolt himself every week (I thought his workload was going down... need to keep the man busy ;))

Thumbnail bug squashed:
There is still a bug in the thumbnail creation's size (original image's ratio / 100).
I'm working on it, should be fixedby this evening 1800 CET. within TWO WEEKS TIME

This new section allows you to create 'Books' (kind of like a photo Book) with a selected collection of pictures. this should allow you to display pictures with a special theme or subject.
You can create your own 'Books' by clicking on:
COLLECTIONS -> MY BOOKS
Warning! Pictures selected in a book is vieweable by everyone. including your 'private pictures'.
You can also browse through other users Books by Clicking on:
COLLECTIONS -> BOOKS

the "&" character created a bug if it was part of the filename, it should now be fixed on the next files uploaded. (after this date)

In both your collection and the public collections, the cut/paste method has changed:
You now click on the link (Image/caption/thumbnail) and the selected link will be displayed in a textfield on top of the page. This should avoid having multiple text fields on the page and make it look cleaner.
It has been tested in IE6*, Firefox and NN6*. Please Private message me if you have a bug with this feature.

I've provided a textfield for each of your files in the My Collection section. You can copy your [IMG] tags from there. This will make the site much more user-friendly for you.

I finaly managed to get that usertime (Re: your selected timezone) to work.
There might be a bug with the summertime change *pulls hair*

We have created an administrative tool that lets us send you emails (mailing list). You should all have received one by now (that particular mail was sent with the wrong format, sorry.. it's fixed now).

I caught the WIN32HLLM BugBear 2 on my home system yesterday 17.02. It has been sending unsolicited emails to everyone in my contacts. Do not open any emails comming from saw@onpoi.net.
I appologise for this inconveniance.

Auto Caption
an automatic caption is given to an uploaded file from now on if you left the caption field empty. the string used is the filename without the file extention.

There was a bug with the new filenames (any special character would have the script lockup during the upload).
This is now fixed.
there was another bug with the files deletion not correctly deleting DB entries when a file was deleted (the file was still listed).

Am getting less time to deal with this, I'm looking for a moderator. (Main job is to screen p0rn or unsuitable incomming pictures). it's a lot of email traffic. User storage also needs some changes once in a while...

The file upload script has been modified and should now work on all browsers.
Also, the filenames changed, and should now reflect the original name of the file (with an added timestamp to avoid overwriting)

SEARCH is now implemented. (fields searched are: caption). Only public files will be displayed.
CATEGORIES:
Category & active users lists are now diplayed on your left. Hovering your mouse on the selection will tell you the nr of matching files.
FILEVIEW:
Clickin on thumnails now point to a script (instead of the file itself.) Alowing to pass over windows XP's resizing feature. You will now see the picture in its original size.
Click on the "view file" link below to view the file itself.

Everyone can browse and use the links on the Public Collections Section.
To add your pictures to that collection, you can either make them "Public" when you enter a new picture, or Edit it's Status to "Public" in your collection
